Seminar Speakers: Melanie Follette-Cook (NASA GSFC), and Bernadette [Bernie] Connell (CIRA)
The Atmosphere Observing System (AOS) will help provide transformative three-dimensional space-based and suborbital observations enabling improved understanding of synergistic cloud, precipitation, and aerosol processes, leading to improved predictions of weather and climate that will directly support societal applications. However, to enable a variety of societal applications, capacity building, training, and stakeholder engagement activities are critical to prepare the community for the use of the next generation of AOS observation. In this seminar, invited speakers will discuss current capacity building efforts including the NASA Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) Program and WMO's Virtual Laboratory for Training and Education in Satellite Meteorology (WMO VLab), highlighting best practices and impacts employed by these programs. This will then be followed by a discussion on how AOS can become more involved in these activities as the mission progresses.
